About me

The Usual F*wit is just your average bloke who is exploring a new hobby. His motivations are his own (He's not sure he completely understands them). He'd love to involve you in the journey, but he's not actually sure where it's supposed to be going, step aboard the sunshine train and find out.

He also finds writing in the third person really weird and is currently giggling to himself, and now looking left, and now looking right... and now wondering how to stop typing because this might be over sharing (of course it's oversharing you fool, stop typing!).

More about me...

Hello all you wonderful people, clearly the superior of the herd in so many ways as you managed to find your way here to this quiet corner.

Firstly I'm no musician, just a fan of DIY who until October 2022 only knew how to play a few chords on his guitar.

In October '22 I lost my toaster, my pet goldfish Terry, and snake Jeff in a tragic accident too terrible and quite frankly unbelievable to write about here (although a film adaptation might follow).

Whilst Terry and Dave are of course irreplaceable the toaster not so.  I sat and thought about how I could best achieve the task of replacing that toaster. I sat and I thought, and I walked and I thought, and I starred at the butter and I thought.

I thought from when I woke up in the afternoon until when I went to bed in the morning.

I thought in the bath and in the shower (can't be too clean).

I thought whilst drinking and I thought whilst smoking (dirty habit).

I thought whilst I was on the bus, I thought whilst I was on the train.

I thought whilst I ran and I thought whilst I cycled, I thought whilst I swam and I thought whilst I yoga'd. Finally after all that thinking that's when the inspiration struck me to write songs about the tragedy that had befallen me and how to keep toast alive and in my life, and to also write a few songs about some other of  life's little mis adventures.

A sad soul who's heart is broken as their toaster is broken

Having never actually written a song but owning a drum kit, a guitar and a computer I felt equipped for this voyage of discovery.

I'm sure there are some reading that doubt the integrity of my story, so if it helps you unfortunate untrusting types then just pretend it was written for the usual idiocy of a bard trying to impress a women that has barely noticed the bards existence and it turns our has entirely different musical tastes. (I heard the tragedy of unrequited love sells the most records).

Thank goodness its not about saving the planet through rock and roll or we'd all be f*cked.

Tree, I'm a tree hugger
Go green, clean skies and clean water

You'll notice one song is about the environment, which was written for completely different reasons. We were discussing the actions of Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil at work. The recent soup throwing event had caught our attention.

We all agreed that the message about climate change inaction needed to reach more people and be amplified. However, we had different opinions on the methods used. Personally, I don't think the actions of these individuals have been successful so far. While their shock tactics make the news, they also make enemies. At times, I've even wondered if they are actually funded by the oil companies or have another agenda.

Repeatedly telling the general public that they are wrong is unlikely to win hearts and minds. It may convince some, but it will alienate others. That's where Sanctimoanious comes in as an ironic response.

So, how do we create a positive vibe? There are thousands of musicians who could take up the cause and spread a more positive and embracing message about the urgent need for change.

Music has had a profound impact throughout history. It has helped feed entire countries, toppled governments, and liberated the repressed or oppressed.

If the message from our climate scientists is true, then we need to act now or we will regret it. But let's not limit ourselves to music alone. Everyone has a little creativity to contribute.

If you enjoy painting, why not theme your pictures? If you're a writer, why not incorporate the message into your stories? And if you're a skilled interpretive dancer, wow us with your moves.

Let's all strive to embrace the value of being excellent to one another, taking a little inspiration from Buddha. In these divisive times, let's not forget that we are all part of Team Human and try not to bring each other down like crabs in a bucket.

Try not to worry so much about our small differences, and instead think about all the wonderful things we have in common.

Baby Buddha, to promote universal love.
